Started the bicycle season

Wednesday Apr 19th 2006 the weather in Finland finally allowed me to start cycling again. The final decision to do so was made the evening before, when I stepped on our scale and saw my weight was 84 kg. For a man 179 cm long, that is a bit too much.

You can see the statistics down below. First I had to fill the tires on a nearby gas station. That caused the morning extra distance and slower speed. It was quite cold morning (about 5 degrees centigrade) so the gloves would have been nice to wear, but didn’t want to turn back any more. The weather was much warmer on the way back. In the evening my weight was 81 kg, so 3 kg was gone the first day. Later some of it came back, but it's a good start.

Had to start moderately, so the next time to cycle between Pukinmäki and Karamalmi was yesterday Monday Apr 24th 2006. The weather was a bit warmer, so I only had a t-shirt and cycling shorts on. This resulted comments from fellow cyclists, but I told them "you don't get cold if you cycle fast enough".

Did start moderately, used my bike once or twice a week the whole month of May 2006.

Then my plans were brutally changed by an accident on June 6th 2006. Broke my left ringfinger and little finger, not to mention my speedmeter. Did use the bike after getting my fingers mostly healed, but didn't get to buy a new meter. Last time seemed to have been Oct 7th and 8th 2006. Better luck next year.

Plans for using this blog

Since 1996 I have intended to do something like this, but didn't know how.
